May 2010: The Great American Road Trip

I'm planning for May 2010 to go on my "Great American road trip".

So far it is completely tentative, but I have my boyfriend and best friend who want to come along. This is going to be the sort of trip where we have only a tentative route and stay in whatever crappy motel we can find on the side of the road. We don't know how long we'll be gone. We're going to try for 2-3 weeks, I think.

The date for this trip is just after graduation, in May 2010. This may be my last chance to take this kind of trip, and I want to take it!

I wanted to hit up Albuquerque, and my best friend wanted to go to the Grand Canyon. Based on this, I've come up with a tentative map for the trip, as you can see. In any case, I'm so excited to begin planning this trip!

Books: Weird Texas

Any Texan who wants to investigate the creepy and unusual should pick up a copy of Weird Texas!

This book shares stories from people around the state, legends, and places investigated by the contributors. It is a great help in finding those weird places along the route that you'd like to stop and see. I just love my copy and would suggest it to anyone interested in road tripping, the paranormal, the unusual, or legends.

16 Tips for a Great American Road Trip

This list of road trip tips from silverclipboard.com can be immensely helpful in creating the modern American road trip.

A Blonde, a Brunette, and a Redhead walk into a haunted house...

No, that's not the start of a joke, that's my first road trip!

My two friends and I, after the first year of college were feeling rather independent and wanted to spread our wings. Being the ghost hunting enthusiasts that we were, we decided to take a trip to stay in some haunted hotels! We ended up selecting Terrell Castle B&B in San Antonio and the Faust Hotel in New Braunfels.
